We had a great Christmas with Luke's sister and her family and his parents who flew in from Maine.
A few highlights:
We visited Temple Square on a warm, rainy night. It is so magical at Christmas.
Kim & Ashley's family, plus Colby who was too cozy in the stroller to take out for the picture. (Actually, I knew once I took him out he'd never get back in, so he was a member of their family for the night).
Fun and games on Christmas Eve.
Pillow Pets from Mimi and Papa. Meet our new additions: Jack's monkey named "Hedwig", Camden's penguin named "Ponko" (after the first grade class pet last year), and Colby's dog "Greta" after our neighbor's dog.
Time for bed . . . We all slept over at Kim & Ashley's house on Christmas Eve. Luke grew up with the family tradition of Santa leaving the kid's stockings in their room in hopes of occupying the kids a little longer in the morning before parents have to wake up. So, we decided to follow tradition ... although, somehow the kiddos thought 2:30 a.m. was "morning" and we woke to their happy voices, opening stockings, chomping on candy, and watching a movie all before 3:00 a.m. Needless to say, it was a bit of a long night, but exciting nonetheless.
Christmas morning!
Every boy under the age of 35 received a Nerf gun and our house has been battle central ever since. In fact, I too now have my own gun to even the odds a little.
To quote Dash from the Incredibles, the week after Christmas was "the best vacation ever!" I literally woke up thinking that each morning. Luke was home from work, the kids let us sleep in, we played games all day, and didn't have to worry about chores, and homework, and day to day demands. It was so nice.

I've been waiting and waiting for a new post about Christmas. Looks like you all had a terrific time. Doesn't it already seem like a long time ago? Onward and upward into 2011.
I should have just posted a big "DITTO" on my blog with a link to yours:) Thanks for such a great holiday! Now if we could just get rid of all this sickness!!
Yes, the nerf gun battles was the big smash hit(of course the BIG BOYS had something to do with the thrill!) Giving them permission to turn the downstairs into a mini-paint-ball course!I wonder what we females could dream up to be the girls'equivalnt-scrapbooking marathons? or TCM musicals playing all day long on the T.V.?
How fun!!! I'm glad you got to be with family. I would die if my kids were up that early. Nerf guns. I think maybe I should get one, to defend myself from the 5 men in my life. :)
What a great Christmas! I love that you have your own nerf gun. That is hilarious! At our house we just play barbies and babies.:)
Yeah, what a fun Christmas! Nerf gun battles are the best, in fact Jon keeps telling me there's a dart up on top of the cupboards in the bonus room after the last battle with Jack and Camden at our house.
