Don't sit under the apple tree..

This is what my apple trees look like this morning:

(And I was wearing shorts & flip-flops on Halloween!)

I've dehydrated, canned, sauced, crisped, and cobblered to my heart's content. I've shared with every neighbor and family member from here to Idaho. We've had many adventures picking apples this fall: chasing snakes, getting hit in the head with falling apples, using them as poke-balls, stabbing them with swords, throwing them over the fence, retriving them from the neighbor's lawn, hanging bags from the branches, playing in the tree house, and watching birds eat them from my window.

Don't get me wrong, at our house we LOVE apples. But, I won't miss that nagging feeling that I should be doing more apples and I won't miss the fruit flies that have been buzzing around my house since the never ending bucket has appeared in the kitchen. And I'm sure my boys won't miss me singing this song that has been stuck in my head for the last month, "Don't sit under the apple tree...with anyone else but me." (I wouldn't be my mother's daughter if I didn't sing it a time or two). Yes, I'm happy to say we are finished with apples!

Playing in the treehouse...looking for a juicy one.

Ha, Ha, I started singing the song as soon as I saw the title, too. I'm so impressed with your domesticness!

It snowed here last night, too, and supposedly more is coming from your way today.

I'm so grateful that you shared some yummy apples with me. Hopefully you'll be rested and ready to start the cycle again next fall.

I have been singing the song since I read your post and my kids keep asking me, "What song is that, Mommy?"

Way too cool what you have been able to do with all of those apples, we have been so crazy busy that we haven't done anything. Usually we do tons of applesauce, but not this year.
